You may have heard of epigenetics, but do you truly understand what it means — and how deeply it may influence your life, your fears, and even the choices you make?

Epigenetics isn’t “woo-woo.” It’s a scientific field that studies how trauma, stress, beliefs, habits, and even phobias can be passed down through generations. You may never have personally experienced hunger, yet still feel compelled to eat when you’re not really hungry. You may find yourself fearing an illness because “all the women in our family struggle with diabetes,” or carrying anxiety around safety, money, or relationships without knowing why.
These patterns aren’t character flaws.
They’re inherited survival responses.
And the good news?
They can be released.

Why Do We Inherit Emotional or Behavioral Patterns?
A groundbreaking 2014 Emory University study demonstrated how trauma can echo across generations. Researchers conditioned male mice to fear a specific scent by pairing it with mild electric shocks. Eventually, the mice responded with fear even when no shock followed. Surprisingly, their children and grandchildren had the same fear response — despite never being exposed to the shocks themselves. Scientists traced this to changes in DNA methylation, which affects how genes are expressed.
Our own bodies work the same way.
Some fear is instinctual (a mouse avoiding a cat). Some is learned from life experiences (a fear of fire after a house burns down). And some becomes so deeply ingrained that it alters genetic expression and is passed down to the next generation.
This is where epigenetics begins.
And this is where emotional freedom begins, too.

A Story of Inherited Trauma: The Holocaust Survivor’s Daughter
In The Cello Still Sings: A Generational Story of the Holocaust and the Transformational Power of Music, Janet Horwitz shares how her parents’ trauma shaped her life — even though she grew up in the safety of Canada and her family rarely spoke about their past.
She writes:
“From my mother, I inherited my eye and hair color, my height and skin tone. I inherited my
intelligence and musical ability from them both. But my hypervigilance, and tendency to conjure up a
monstrous array of dreadful disasters, is from my father.Still prisoners of the past, afraid of what lay ahead, my parents braced themselves to meet a world
that might capsize at any moment. This, I discovery, is the legacy, the marker that has genetically
stamped my soul.”
Despite never witnessing the Holocaust, she lived with its aftershocks: fear of being seen, fear of causing disappointment, fear that the “sky could fall at any moment.” Only later, after learning about epigenetics, did she understand why.
Many people carry inherited fears without knowing their origins.
Trauma Doesn’t Have to Be Extreme to Be Passed Down
You don’t have to come from a war-torn family to experience inherited trauma.
It may show up as:
• A phobia with no known cause
• Chronic worry
• Hypervigilance
• Fear of scarcity
• Guilt around rest or pleasure
• A “family story” you’ve unconsciously lived out
Children of parents who experienced loss, addiction, emotional neglect, or significant stress often carry these imprints. As Janet Horwitz notes, trauma can create a “molecular residue” that influences behavior, emotion, and identity.
But there is hope — and there is healing.

How My Epigenetics Work Helps Release Stored Generational Trauma
The Wise Heart Coaching & Hypnosis process unfolds in two powerful, gentle sessions.
Session One: Clearing the Ancestral “Library”
We identify and remove inherited stories, memories, fears, emotional imprints, and energetic patterns.
These are then transmuted into a cleansing flame — releasing what no longer belongs to you.
Session Two: Reconnecting the Lineage With Healing
We detach the energetic cords between you and your parents or relatives — and also release the cords they unconsciously attached to you.
These cords are then reconnected to a higher power, allowing old pain to transform into healing.
What happens next is profound:
This new pattern of healing energetically ripples forward and backward through the lineage.
Clients often describe this work as deeply emotional, freeing, and life-changing.
You Don’t Have to Carry What Was Never Yours
Generational trauma may be part of your story, but it does not have to define your future.
If you’re ready to understand the roots of your fears, break long-standing patterns, and offer healing to your lineage — I would be honored to support you.
